* About the CRES (Cognitive Research for Exploratory Search) project [#v6ea9980]

The CRES project's goal is to investigate user's behavior and cognitive
processes during various information seeking tasks on the web. Various users' activities were collected for analysis by using eye-trackers, think-aloud, etc.,
for the purpose of designing better interactive IR systems for
exploratory searches.

This project is supported by a National Institute of Informatics joint research grant.
This project has been supported by MEXT Grants in Aid and National Institute of Informatics joint research grants .

-[[Web action categories]]: We defined 10 Web action categories for analyzing of user's behavior on the web.
-[[Link Depth>LinkDepth]]: We defined “Link Depth” as an index for indicating the extent to which a user has moved deeper into the Web following links from search engine result pages (SERP).
-[[Concept Map>Conceptmap]]: Measuring the change in the user's knowledge due to the search by comparing these before and after maps.
-[[Lookzones]]: We defined “Lookzones”, a set of categories indicating which part of the results page that the participants looked.
-Taxonomy for Knowledge Change : a set of categories describing how a user's knowledge was changed during a search session.
-Taxonomy for Knowledge Utilization: a set of categories describing how users utilize their knowledge during a search session.
- [[Scanpath2SVG:http://cres.jpn.org/scanpath2svg/]]: Visualization service for eye movement data.
- [[VizCMap>VizCMap]]: Visualization and analysis tool for pre- and post-search concept maps.
-[[QT-Honey]]: a Firefox add-on toolbar for collecting web user behaviors, along with [[Web action categories]].
- [[Lemur Query Log Toolbar:http://www.lemurproject.org/querylogtoolbar/]] (Lemur project): We contributed to the toolbar by reporting bugs and sending patches.
-[[EyeTrackingSystem]]: We used a non-contact type eye-tracking system.
- [[Lemur Query Log Toolbar:http://www.lemurproject.org/querylogtoolbar/]] (Lemur project): QT-Honey simultaneously collects the data compatible with the Lemur Query Log Toolbar, which was developed by CMU/LTI.
-[[EyeTrackingSystem]]: We used a non-contact type eye-tracking systems.
